In 2016, 66 tree pits were re-designed and installed to accept maximum run-off from the surrounding road. Rather than this roadway discharging straight into the River Torrens, the side entry pits were redirected to nearby trees and a bioretention type pit installed with treated over flow entering the River Torrens.
