Port Pirie will be transformed over the next five years under the Greening Port Pirie Master Plan, which received the Award for Landscape Planning at the recent SA Landscape Architecture Awards, hosted by the SA Chapter of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects.

With a strong focus on treating stormwater as a resource, a network of green walkable streets will feature a mass roll out of infiltration systems at a scale never seen before in this state. Swales will also be integrated into wide streetscape verges to support greater biodiversity and shade within the public realm. Priority for these water sensitive urban design solutions will be given to strategic routes connecting the city centre, schools and recreation facilities.

Congratulations Water Sensitive SA partner SA Water and Aurecon for the award.
