Stormwater is diverted from road runoff into infiltration trenches in the road verge for passive irrigation of established trees and flow management.  The infiltration trenches are typically 1100mm deep by 600mm wide, backfilled with geofrabric and 20mm washed aggregate.

Any tree roots attracted to the water laden trenches are preveneted from intruding beneath the road pavement by a root barrier. Download the Infiltration trench typical detail drawings for more information.
